Gypsy and Traveller Accomodation Needs
||In response to this requirement, the authorities across the Nottinghamshire County (excluding Bassetlaw) jointly commissioned a study which was published in May 2007.
The GTAA has now been revised by the Nottinghamshire Gypsy Traveller Accommodation
Monitoring Group to give an up to date picture of site provision following the original published assessment in 2007. The
study also now includes the whole of Nottinghamshire.
Please note the document was prepared using available data as at
April 2010 and since its completion there have been significant policy changes with regard to Regional Strategies and funding
for site provision. This useful document gives a summary of developments since the original study with a total of 30 new pitches
against the extra pitch provision figures of 119, however all of the new provision has been provided by the private sector.
There are also now figures showing the numbers of unauthorised encampments in the County, which is the first time these have
been centrally collated.
The focus of this study is to identify accommodation and support needs at a local and county level. It is intended that the findings will feed into the Local Development Framework process, the Regional Spatial Strategy process, and the planning of site provision and services for Gypsies and Travellers.
