Deadline for Flood Help set for Monday 13th August 2007
||Ashfield District Council has been allocated funding of £23,000 to help the victims of flooding in their homes during June 2007. The council needs to set a deadline for people to apply for financial help in order to start allocating the money. The deadline has been set for Monday 13th August 2007.
Jason Zadrozny, Leader of the Council,
"We recognise that any financial assistance we can give will be of only limited benefit to those who suffered such a major loss. But it is important we start to allocate the money fairly and quickly."
The Council's Chief Executive, Alan Mellor said:
"We are aware that around 50 households in the District experienced flooding in their properties."
"The Council has written to these people individually to ascertain their particular circumstances and offer the opportunity to apply for financial assistance to help in the recovery period."
"We believe we have a full picture as possible, but we must ensure we do not miss anyone therefore we are asking again that any family which experienced flooding in their home to contact the Council before the 13th August."
Residents should either write to Mr Mellor at the address below; telephone the Council’s Customer Services Section on 01623 450000 or email floodrelief@ashfield-dc.gov.uk
