Look Out for Your Right to Vote
||Over the next few days voter registration forms for the annual canvas from Ashfield District Council will be sent to every household in Ashfield asking people to register for their right to vote.
If the information already printed on the voter registration form is correct you only need to sign and return the form in the envelope provided. Only signed forms can be accepted, unsigned forms will be returned.
If the information is wrong you need to alter the information on the form and sign it before returning it in the envelope provided.
There are two other options to choose from, but only if the information on the form is correct, if you do not want to reply by post; if you have access to the internet you can register on-line at www.registerbyinternet.com/ashfield or by simply telephoning a free phone number 0800 197 7693.
If residents do not respond they may not be included on the new electoral register and therefore may lose their right to vote.
The council strongly urges people to look out for the form and return it, or use the internet or the free telephone number as soon as possible rather than wait until the deadline of 15th October 2007.
Please note you are required by law to provide or confirm registration details each year so that correct information is held on the electoral register. You can be fined up to £1,000 if you fail to respond or give false information.
