Official Opening of Titchfield Park Pavilions

||
DATE: 1st August 2007

The official opening ceremony for Titchfield Park in Hucknall took place on Sunday 29th July at the new Bowls Pavilion.

The red ribbon was cut by Chairman of Ashfield District Council, Harry Toseland and Hucknall Titchfield Park Bowls Club member, Ralph Jackson. The ceremony was witnessed by more than fifty bowlers and members of the public.

Councillor Harry Toseland commented,

“Ashfield District Council is increasingly aware of the importance of outdoor activities and quality green spaces for the well-being of our communities. We hope these pavilions, and the ongoing improvements to Titchfield Park, will help to encourage healthier more active lifestyles and provide enjoyment for Hucknall's many residents and visitors.”

“I am proud to declare Titchfield Park Sports Pavilion officially open today. The creation of such high quality accommodation for local bowl teams is something to be very proud off.”

The new Pavilions provide changing rooms, kitchen facilities, public toilets, staff accommodation and meeting space, as well as a new scoring board for cricket matches on the park. Ashfield District Council led the project supported by funding from Nottinghamshire County Council. Improvements to Titchfield Park are set to continue with the installation of youth equipment, the redevelopment of the children’s play area and the resurfacing of paths.

The original opening ceremony, planned as part of the Festival of Sport Gala Day 24th June 2007, had to be cancelled due to extreme weather.
