The impact of the closure is that all non-recyclable waste collected from Ashfield will be routed to Bilsthorpe landfill site after that date. This means the bin lorries will have to travel further to dispose of the District’s waste. Additional vehicles and crews have been brought in to assist with the transition, which means that the time when bins are normally emptied could change.

Edd de Coverly, Head of Neighbourhood Services for Ashfield District Council commented:

“Until we begin running our vehicles to Bilsthorpe we cannot be precise about the new time people can expect their bin to be emptied. Therefore to ensure they are not missed, we would like to remind everyone that their bins should be available for collection no later than 6 a.m. on the collection day.”

Please note that collection days will not change, it is only the times of collections which may alter. The only changes to collection days will be on Bank Holidays when householders will receive advanced notification of any alterations.
