Flood funding

||
The Council has been allocated funding of £20,000 following the floods which have been experienced over the last few weeks.

Jason Zadrozny, Leader of the Council, welcomed the funding which the Government has provided, but he acknowledged that would not be sufficient to meet the full cost of the damage suffered by the many people that have suffered as a result of the floods.

“We recognise that any financial assistance we can give will be of only limited benefit to those who suffered such a major loss,” he said.

The Council’s Chief Executive, Alan Mellor said:

“We are aware that around 50 households in the District experienced flooding in their properties.

“The Council will write to these people individually to ascertain their particular circumstances and offer the opportunity to apply for financial assistance to help in the recovery period.

“When we have as full a picture as possible, the Council will quickly assess the potential uses which the grant can be used for, with the aim of maximising the benefit to those communities and individuals who were worst affected by flooding into their homes.

“To ensure that we have the fullest picture possible of all the properties that were affected, I would ask that any family which experienced flooding in their home to contact the Council to register their position together with a broad outline of their situation.”
