HUCKNALL STUDENTS’ SUCCESS IN ‘DRAGONS’ DEN!’
||Students from Hucknall’s Holgate School have beaten the Dragons in their own den!
The Hucknall team were one of six teams pitting their wits and business acumen against local “Dragons” at the event which was held at The Innovate Centre, Sherwood Business Park as part of Enterprise Week – an annual UK-wide week of activities designed to inspire young people to turn their business ideas into reality.
Based on BBC 2’s popular venture capitalist programme, and involving students from schools in Ashfield, Bolsover and Mansfield the teams pitched their business ideas to the “Dragons”, with the Holgate Team ultimately scooping The Alliance for Enterprise, Enterprise Academy Award and £250 for their school.
The event was jointly organized by the Alliance for Enterprise Exchange and Mansfield-based company No Limits, with the aim of inspiring the local young entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
Schools taking part in The Dragon’s Den were: Sutton Centre Community College; Holgate School, Hucknall; Bolsover School and Shirebrook School in Bolsover and Queen Elizabeth’s Endowed School and The Manor School in Mansfield.
The Dragons were: Ash Narsey, Director of Just Childsplay Ltd, a Leicestershire based educational toys company; Amanda Pearce-Burton, Managing Director Formation, a Nottinghamshire based Consultancy and Training Services - also a board member for Alliance for Enterprise and Ros Wragg, proprietor of Kimellejoe, a small online business specialising in exclusive children's party supplies and toys.
Holgate’s winning team was: John Bevins, Amber Curtis, William Hydes and Cairie Green
Over half a million students nationwide will be involved in Enterprise Week. Last year, around 34,000 people under the age of 25 took the plunge and set up their own business.
