Ashfield Show Cultural Services Competition
||As part of the Ashfield Show the Cultural Services department of Ashfield District Council ran a competition to identify 12 pictures relating to activities and places of interest within Ashfield.
A tie-breaker was used to help determine the winners in each category. The aim of the competition was to help people realise that Ashfield has a lot to offer both residents and tourists alike.
The Cultural Services exhibition became a hive of activity throughout the day as both young and old spent time to study the displays to locate the images on the entry forms. Many people entered each category of the competition, often working together as families and frequently commenting about how amazed they were to discover so many interesting facts about Ashfield.
We are pleased to announce the winners:
- Under 18 category: Curtis Lee of Sutton-in-Ashfield who wrote “Ashfield is a place of ‘multicultural foods and people’”
- 18 – 49 category: Liz Haynes of Sutton-in-Ashfield who wrote “Ashfield is a place of ‘interest and history, with something for everyone’”
- Over 50 category: Helen Hayes of Huthwaite who wrote “Ashfield is a place of “diversity, adventure and a lovely place to explore – plenty open spaces and heritage galore; come and see it!
