||
DATE: 24th September 2007

Official Government figures have ranked Ashfield District Council 12th in the UK as the best performing local authority for recycling 'dry recyclables' – making it one of the best for recycling in the UK.

The official 'dry recyclable' recycling rate for the Council is 27.93% (based on 2005/06 audited figures) and has been achieved through the council’s Twin Bin and Blue Box schemes.

Head of Neighbourhood Services, Mr. Edd deCoverley, said:

“Ashfield residents can be justifiably proud that the area is now recognised as one of the best for recycling in the country.

“I would like to thank everyone for continuing to separate their waste and supporting our schemes so well and also thank the Council's waste management collection crews and staff for their continuing hard work and dedication in making this achievement possible.”
