Asset Management Plan 2008-09

||
Date: 17th April, 2008.

A comprehensive plan setting out how the Council is going to ensure that its buildings meet the needs of the Ashfield Community was approved at a meeting of the Cabinet on Thursday evening (17th April, 2008).

In addition to continuing its current methods of maintaining buildings in a sustainable and responsible manner in order to protect the health and safety of employees, visitors and users, the meeting heard of a number of further initiatives contained within the document.

Cllr Lee Cooper, Portfolio Holder for Land and Property, told Cabinet members that the plan includes a number of environmental and sustainable initiatives.

“Among the areas of particular focus within the Plan are the introduction of energy and water saving measures across the Council’s building portfolio; identifying land for possible carbon offset schemes and specific improvements to Hucknall Leisure Centre to reduce C02 emissions and improve the comfort of the centre’s users,” he said.

“In addition, we aim to improve the fabric of our parks, open spaces, cemeteries and allotments.”

He then outlined some of the other areas of focus within the Plan, which include more resident consultation, the provision of more commercial units to encourage local business, improving community centres and making its car parks safer.
