||Ashfield’s annual Civic Event took place at Portland Training College on Friday (4th April, 2008). The aim of the awards is to encourage civic pride in the District by recognising citizens, groups and employers who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution or achievement.
The evening was hosted by the Chairman of Ashfield District Council, Cllr. Harry Toseland, and his lady, Mrs. Jean Toseland, and the guest speaker was Mr. Ian Fraser, Headteacher, Ashfield School.
Leader of the Council, Cllr. Jason Zadrozny, said that it was important to recognise that there are so many people in Ashfield who work so hard for others as well as themselves.
“It makes me very proud to know that we have such a core of dedicated, talented people in Ashfield. This event is the Council’s gesture of thanks for all they are achieving within our communities,” he said.
