Ashfield Handyperson Scheme
||Ashfield’s HandyPerson Scheme offers practical help to older people living within the district.
The Scheme is available to people who are over 60 years of age or disabled and who are owner occupiers or live in privately rented accommodation.
A spokesperson explained that the aim of the service is to carry out small scale jobs around the house and garden at a reasonable price.
“The service is not free, but it is subsidised in order to reduce costs. We still have some funds to spend this year, so we would welcome applications from people who would like a bit of help with small DIY jobs around their home,” he said.
A free quotation is given before you decide to proceed with any work – from leaky taps to tiling small areas, moving pieces of furniture to decorating.
Help is also available for the exterior of your home – tidying garages or sheds where risks are identified, mowing lawns and repairing washing lines are but a few of the services the Ashfield Handyperson Service can provide.
All staff from the Ashfield Handyperson Service carry identification badge and will make a prior arrangement with you before visiting – do not let anyone into your home without proper identification.
