Big Garden Birdwatch at King’s Mill Reservoir
||All things ornithological - that’s birdlike to you and me - will be happening down at King’s Mill Reservoir on January 27th, when a Big Garden Birdwatch event takes place at the Strawberry Fayre Café.
Taking place between 11am and 2pm, the event is being jointly hosted by the Friends of King’s Mill Reservoir, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and Ashfield’s Ranger Service.
Aimed at bird enthusiasts of all ages, the event will give expert insight into how to identify birds and the best ways of feeding garden birds.
There will also be a guided walk around King’s Mill Reservoir to learn more about birds, other wildlife and the work done on the site, to find out about the work of RSPB, and learn what the Friends of Res do to help support the Ranger Service.
During the event, an hour will be set aside to take part in the national Big Garden Birdwatch when garden birds will be counted and results are sent in to the website (for more information go to http://www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch/.
Other activities planned for the day will include: making bird feeders, using telescopes to look at the birds on the reservoir, a free competition, children’s activities and much more.
