Ashfield fly to Airport Launch

||
Date: 13th May 2008

Ashfield schools took part in the recent launch of the East Midlands Airport Nottinghamshire Youth Games in the airport’s departure hall.

For this year’s 10th anniversary launch, local artists worked with a group of students from Kirkby College to create 8 larger than life puppets to represent each of the Districts taking part in the Games.

The puppets, made from recycled materials sourced locally, were operated by the students in a fun football game. They were assisted by pupils from Hillside Primary School and volunteers from the Active Ashfield Volunteer Programme.

Ashfield District Council Chairman, Councillor Harry Toseland, members of the Ashfield District Council’s Sports Development team and the Ashfield District School Sports Partnership also attended along with the ‘Brocky and Peggy Roadshow’
