Council to host Climate Change Event

||
Date: 23rd May, 2008

The Council’s Corporate Climate Change and Sustainability Group will be hosting an awareness raising event at Ashfield District Council’s Kirkby Offices on Friday 6 June 2008.

Running between 11am and 3pm, the event will be open to the public, school children and council employees, and will be based within the Visitors’ Car Park to the front of the Offices.

The main focus of the event will be a visit by the Climate Change Bus, which is packed with information about Climate Change and Sustainability issues.  There will also be a “Light bulb Amnesty” where visitors will be encouraged to swap conventional light bulbs for free, low energy bulbs.

In addition, there will be an opportunity for visitors to make a simple Climate Change Pledge that will reduce their personal carbon footprint and enter a free prize draw to win a hamper of sustainable and Fairtrade goods.

The aim of the event is to raise public awareness of Climate Change and Sustainability issues, and you are most welcome to join officers and visitors at the event.

If you would like more information about this event, please contact Marcus Ward or Sharon Ward on ext 4379.
