Recognition For Liam’s Talents
||Jackson’s Building Centre, Sutton-in-Ashfield branch, participated in the Ashfield District Council Aim Higher Scheme during summer 07 which provided an 8-week work placement to Liam Gregory an Architecture and Design undergraduate at Nottingham Trent University.
Liam from Selston was given the task of designing a landscaping feature, which would be built and displayed at the branch in time for the company’s landscaping launch in early Spring 2008.
The result was a stunning and contemporary design, which used the latest products and innovations to bring a whole new dimension to landscaping. The design included paving in an array of shapes, colours and textures, water features, artificial grass and mood lighting to create a perfect ambience.
Jackson’s Sutton-in-Ashfield Branch Manager, Lyndon Johnson said:
“Jackson is a large employer in the region and is always keen to attract talented individuals like Liam to the company, so schemes like Ashfield Aim Higher are extremely worthwhile.
“The landscaping feature which Liam designed for us is a truly inspired design, which really demonstrates the diversity of products and styles available, bringing landscaping techniques right up to date. It’s very reassuring to know that we have such talented young people right on our doorstep.”
All landscaping displays are judged internally be a team of people from Jacksons and graded accordingly. Sutton’s display was awarded 2nd out of 23 branches which is a great accolade with a great deal of input from Liam.
The Ashfield Aim Higher Scheme has provided 21 Ashfield undergraduate students with quality work placements in a diverse range of organisations across the district this summer, bringing huge benefits to both the students and employers with some excellent projects undertaken.
