Volunteer Workdays on The Hills

||
Date: 23rd May 2008

Volunteers from the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) will be returning to holly hill open space in Selston to continue work to improve the site both for wildlife and local people.

The work has been planned and co-ordinated by Ashfield District Council with the aim of restoring the rare acid grassland to be found on the site while increasing its value to local residents as an accessible natural green space.

Following up the clearance of invasive bracken in August last year, volunteers will this time be working to restore overgrown paths and steps and clearing litter. Workdays will be taking place in 27th – 28th May and Sunday June 1st. Local residents are encouraged to join in with the workdays and anyone wishing to attend should contact Ian Ward at BTCV on 0115 9313316.

It is anticipated that more volunteer sessions will take place through the year to support the restoration of this valuable habitat.

For more information please contact Andrew Hinchley at Ashfield District Council on 01623 450000.
