The project, entitled ‘Word on the Street,’ has involved a number of urban arts workshops set up to give an alternative to crime and anti-social behaviour. The workshops have included: spray art at the Hucknall Titchfield Park skate park; rap and urban music sessions with youth groups from the Hucknall Interchange and Jacksdale youth clubs; and urban dance in Annesley.

It has also included two groups of young people based in the Mansfield area and town centre of Kirkby working with the performance poet, Mark Gwynne Jones. This has involved young people photographing interesting and unusual items found in the locality and creating stories and poems based around them.

The whole project has been documented by Creative Focus, a local professional film making company. The documentary with some live performance is being presented in the Kirkby Festival Hall as part of the Christmas Carnival on Friday 5th December, and the Hucknall John Godber Centre as part of their Christmas Carnival on Wednesday 3rd December.
