Exercise Session for Multiple Sclerosis Sufferers

||
Date: 15th April 2009

A new FREE exercise programme aimed at helping Multiple Sclerosis sufferers is coming to Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Ashfield District Council is working in partnership with the Ashfield and Mansfield MS Society Group to offer an hour of gentle exercise per week to MS sufferers in the area.

It is recognised that regular physical activity can be beneficial to sufferers of MS, particularly light exercise such as Yoga and Tai Chi. A four week pilot has proved very successful and the weekly programme will now last for the rest of the year.

The weekly exercise takes place at Healdswood Community Centre every Wednesday between 2.00pm and 4.00pm and the cost is FREE!

The exercise is followed by refreshments and a social chat among group members.

Craig Simpson, Physical Activity Officer at Ashfield District Council says: "The exercise session is ideal for people who are suffering from MS and may be inactive. Not only can this gentle exercise benefit MS sufferers physiologically but can also help increase self esteem and confidence by meeting other people with the same condition."

For more information or to book a place on the programme, please contact Linda Bough on 0800 542 0901.
