Celebrate Play at Titchfield Park
||It's all about play this week at Titchfield Park with an afternoon of organised fun and games and finishing touches to the play area
Ashfield Play Forum will be holding a Play Day on Wednesday 19th August between 1pm and 4pm. The event will include games, sports and craft activities for children up to 16 years of age.
Poppies Café will also be open, serving hot and cold refreshments, as it is every day throughout the summer holidays from 10am – 4pm.
Meanwhile, following its completion earlier this year, the park’s playground has now been decorated with games markings to provide even more play value and decoration. Games have been chosen from children’s requests and include a maze and nature-themed hopscotch.
The play area improvements were made possible through contributions from housing developers for improvements to open space, and supported by a £30,000 grant from WREN, the environmental body who administer the Landfill Communities Fund on behalf of the Waste Recycling Group (WRG). The redeveloped play area features fun and challenging equipment for all ages and abilities, including a new balance trail and a level access roundabout. A secure toddlers area provides a safe area for the youngest of children while the rest of the area has been opened up to provide a larger area for play and allow for future expansion.
The improvements helped the park to achieve its first Green Flag award this year, a national award for high quality green spaces.
If you have any ideas for future additions to the playground, you can email them to parks@ashfield-dc.gov.uk or contact Ashfield District Council on 01623 457300.
