Thousands Of Visitors Enjoyed Ashfield Show 2009

Thousands of visitors enjoyed Ashfield Show 2009, which certainly lived up to its reputation as being the 'Best Free Show in the Midlands'.

A total of 21,000 people attended the event over the weekend – and despite the large number of visitors organisers were delighted to report that police made no arrests at all within the Showground.

Boasting an impressive 31 year history and returning this year to its two-day format, the Show really did offer an immensely enjoyable weekend of family entertainment, topped with a stunning performance at the Saturday evening concert by chart topping girl group Sugababes.

The weekend was blessed with warm weather and sunshine, which made a further 8,000 visitors turn up for Sunday's events, which included the ever-popular “It's a Knockout”.

Head of Community and Economic Promotion, Frank Horsley, said:

“The feedback we are receiving from people who visited the Show suggests that this year's event has been one of the best yet, which thousands of people enjoying a fantastic weekend of family entertainment.
“The lack of public disorder at the event can be attributed to the meticulous planning which went into the show, coupled with the strict alcohol policy enforced throughout the show.”
