The money was raised through a variety of fundraising events which Cllr. Mrs. Barsby held during her year of office 2008/09 when Victim Support was her chosen charity.

Receiving the cheque were Dr Jeffrey Fewkes and Olwen Edwards, who said the funds would be used to train local people as volunteers for the Charity.

Cllr. Mrs. Barsby, who has been re-elected to the office of Chairman of the Council for 2009/10, has chosen Sense, the organisation which supports deaf and blind people as her chosen charity for the year ahead.
