Fly a Flag for the Armed Forces!

||
Date: 8th June 2009

Ashfield is preparing to mark the first national Armed Forces Day with a Flag Flying Ceremony on June 22nd.

The event will involve a military parade in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and members of the public are invited to join in by lining the streets to wave a flag in support of our servicemen and women.

Leaving the pedestrian area at the Nag’s Head, Kirkby-in-Ashfield at 10.00am, the Parade will make its way down Station Street to the Council Offices at Urban Road, where the specially commissioned Armed Forces Day flag will be raised at 10.30am.

Representatives of the Armed Forces – Army, Navy and Air Force – will be in attendance, along with the British Legion, cadets and reservists.

Servicemen and women, acting or veteran, are warmly invited to join in the parade – please contact Carys Turner-Jones on 01623 457004 or c.turner-jones@ashfield-dc.gov.uk, or Joanna Barrett on 01623 457002 or j.barrett@ashfield-dc.gov.uk for further details.
