Get Set for a World Class Festival of Sport Gala Day
||Sam Hynd, Ashfield's Paralympic Gold Medallist and World Record Holder will make a special appearance at Ashfield District Council's Festival of Sport Gala Day on Sunday 21st June at Titchfield Park, Hucknall.
This is your chance to meet Ashfield’s star of 2008 and also to experience a Guinness World Record attempt by World Class Freestyle Footballer John Farnworth, who will be attempting “the most football rolls across the forehead” – a record currently held by Dan Magness in Venaria, Italy.
There will also be a Five-a-side football match between O.A.S.I.S. Allstars Professional Footballers team and a Local Media team, with players including Jake Buxton and Luke Varney (Derby County), Dean Houldsworth and Gareth Holmes (Mansfield Town) and Alex John-Baptiste (ex Nottingham Forest).
A new Active Ashfield Website www.activeashfield.co.uk will be launched on the big screen after which you will have the opportunity to be one of the first to try out the fantastic new ‘Brocky and Peggy’ interactive game, with prizes for the highest scores on the day.
The Gala Day kicks off at 10am and has something to offer people of all ages and abilities throughout the day: - Everyone Active Marquee, Brocky and Peggy Roadshow, Nottingham Rugby Club, BMX, skateboarding, hockey, squash, football, bowls, cricket and circus skills.
There will also be live music with local guitar vocalist Bill Norman.
Councillor John Willmott said: “The Gala Day will be a fun, family event, and a great start to two weeks of sporting opportunities in Ashfield".
