Top Support Acts Announced for Ashfield Show Concert
||Following the announcement that the highly-successful Sugababes are set to headline the free evening concert at this year's Ashfield Show, two more well-known artists have been confirmed as support acts.
Ruth Lorenzo of X Factor fame, and ZU2, a U2 tribute band, will both be performing at
the largest free show in the East Midlands, now in its thirtieth year.
Ruth Lorenzo, who found fame during the 2008 series of The X-Factor, began singing opera as a child in her home country of Spain and later played lead roles in musicals during four years at school in America.
Back in Spain, she joined a rock band at the age of 19 and toured the country for three years before the group split up.
Europe’s top U2 tribute band and part Sutton-in-Ashfield export, ZU2, is also set to perform at the annual show on August 8th and 9th.
These skilled performers, whose ‘The Edge’ and ‘Bono,’ also known as Rich and Russ, are from Sutton-in-Ashfield, have created a successful and authentic tribute act through their love for U2 and attention to detail.
Visitors to the show can enjoy a mix of entertainment, craft and horticulture and various trade stalls at The Lawn Park in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
The highlight for many is the ever-popular live music stage and Saturday evening concert, rounded off with a spectacular firework display.
This year the organisers are also searching for local bands to take part in a showcase of local and emerging talent on Saturday, August 8 between 11am and 5pm on Sutton Lawn, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Bands playing any style of music, be it rock or rap, funk or folk, ballads or blues or something else altogether, are invited to take part in the new Big Top Music Arena.
To book your band contact John Tattersfield, Arts Development Officer for Ashfield District Council on 01623 457249 or email j.tattersfield@ashfield-dc.gov.uk.
