Last Chance to Join MEND Programme
||Families in Sutton are being offered a last chance to sign up to a FREE healthy lifestyle programme that takes place at the Lammas Leisure Centre, starting on Wednesday 13th May.
The ten week MEND programme consists of 2 x 2 hour sessions and covers nutrition subjects such as fats and sugars and offers regular physical activity sessions including fun games and swimming.
The programme, a partnership between Ashfield District Council and SLM, is aimed at children aged between 7-13 and is ideal for parents who are concerned about their children’s weight and want to make healthier lifestyle choices.
It is well recognised by health professionals that overweight and obesity in childhood can cause health problems later in life, such as heart disease and diabetes. This type of programme can help children grow into a healthier weight and reduce the risk of health problems in later life.
The programme which normally costs £400 per place is being offered FREE as part of national drive to help people make healthier changes for life, takes place on a Wednesday and Friday evening between 5-7pm.
For more information about the MEND programme, or to book a place on the next course, contact Craig Simpson, Physical Activity Officer on (01623) 457233 or book a place online at www.mendprogramme.org.
