Titchfield Park Transformation Continues!
||Titchfield Park is benefiting from a raft of improvement works that have been taking place through spring, continuing the regeneration of Hucknall's premier park.
The work has included the completion of cenotaph restoration work with tired paving replaced by new surfacing inspired by historical photos of the park. This has been supported by funding from Nottinghamshire County Council’s Building Better Communities fund. A second phase of footway resurfacing, including the repair of the original central stone steps, is improving access and enhancing the parks appearance.
Notice boards have been installed to keep visitors up-to-date with information and events, while several new bins and benches are being installed, with locations suggested by local residents through the Friends of Titchfield Park.
All these works have been made possible through Section 106 contributions that Ashfield District Council negotiates with housing developers in order to ensure that quality green spaces are provided to serve the growing local population.
Meanwhile, park staffs are working to encourage wildlife to the park by developing a more natural feel to the lower end of the park. Areas of long grass are being left to provide habitats for a range of insects and animals, and it is intended that a range of wildflowers will be planted with local schools later in the year to complement the more formal displays elsewhere in the park.
Poppies café continues to serve hot and cold drinks and snacks on a Friday (11-2) and Saturday (10-2), thanks to the volunteers from Hucknall Christian Centre.
You can help us to continue improving the park by telling us what you think. Fill in a park questionnaire, which are available in Poppies café, Hucknall Library and online here.
