Golden Footprint Award for Ashfield Council

||
Date: 2nd November 2009

Ashfield District Council's Dog Control Service has been presented with a prestigious award by the RSPCA for the second year in succession – a Golden Footprint Award for the welfare of stray dogs.

The RSPCA is committed to working closely with local authorities and housing providers to support them in delivering animal welfare and runs its Community Animal Welfare Footprints award scheme to recognise authorities who go beyond their basic service requirements to ensure higher welfare standards for animals in the services they provide.

Representatives of the Council were invited to receive their award along with other recipients to celebrate their achievement at a Parliamentary Reception in the House of Lords.

Commenting on Ashfield’s continued success, Piers Claughton of the RSPCA said he was delighted with the Council’s continued high standard of performance.

"Ashfield has shown through its policies and pro-active work that animal welfare is a priority within their stray dog service. The Council and specifically the officers responsible should be proud with what they have achieved."
