Fly Tipper Fined
||A Huthwaite man who tipped waste into a storm drain has been fined £889.93 by Mansfield Magistrates.
Mr Neil Belcher aged 34 of Blackwell Road, Huthwaite, was taken to court by Ashfield District Council for fly tipping after he deposited excavation material into a storm drainage ditch on Blackwell Road in May 2008.
Mr Belcher, who had legal representation, entered a plea of guilty and was ordered to pay a total of £889.93 consisting of £400.00 fine and £15.00 victim surcharge and £474.93 costs.
The courts took into account Mr Belcher's early guilty plea and his previous good character, otherwise the fine may have been considerably higher.
Ashfield's Head of Neighbourhood Services, Edd de Coverly said the Neighbourhood Enforcement team was determined to eradicate crimes such as fly-tipping.
“Fly-tipping is anti social and blights the environment. Ashfield District Council will continue to educate and enforce on this issue with the aim of making Ashfield a cleaner, safer, greener place.”
