Hucknall Town Centre Masterplan Public Exhibition at Hucknall Library

Last year Ashfield District Council commissioned urban designers and planners URBED to develop a spatial masterplan for the regeneration of Hucknall Town Centre. It is anticipated that the Masterplan will provide a framework for public and private investment for the town centre. The study has been based on a wide range of consultations and discussions with people and stakeholders in Hucknall.

Unfortunately, the study has been held up for some time due to the County Council awaiting formal approval from the Department of Transport for the Hucknall Town Centre Road Improvement Scheme(HTCIS), which entails constructing a new inner relief road and pedestrianisation of part of the High Street. This scheme formed an integral part of the Masterplan’s deliberations and until formal approval for the scheme was obtained it would have been premature to release the final report of the Masterplan.
