Council seeks views for housing an ageing population

||
Nottinghamshire Councils have joined with Erewash Borough Council to research the housing needs of an ageing and growing population.

Most homes don’t meet the needs of people as they grow older. Housing options are often limited to care homes or sheltered housing, or staying in accommodation which may be unsuitable or difficult to manage and maintain. More suitable homes for older people are needed now.

The Councils need to plan for people who want specialist accommodation, such as sheltered housing and also for those that will not choose this option. Many people will prefer to stay in their own home, but may need help to do so while others may want to down-size. Some people will choose to rent and others to buy. Some will need help at some stage and some will not.

The Councils are now asking people over 50 who live in their area, to take part in a survey to help plan future housing needs and support. Some people in the area will be chosen randomly and sent a postal survey, but anyone can take part at:

Nottinghamshire and Erewash Over 50s Housing Needs Survey

If you would prefer a paper copy of the survey, or for further information, please contact Peter Fletcher Associates on 01434 684944.
