'Happiness Day' To Honour Local Couple

||
Date: 6th August 2010

An annual event to honour a couple from Bulwell who sadly lost their lives, has recently raised £922 for charity.

Paul Basford and his partner Tina Artingstoe were involved in a motorcycle accident on the A453 road back on 6th September 2001 and were both tragically killed.

Paul and Tina's family and friends now hold an annual 'Happiness Day' at Watnall Road, Hucknall to remember the lives that were sadly lost and to raise money for charity.

There were lots of fundraising activities at the garden party including face painting, stalls, a wishing well and competitions.

Janet Poyser, Paul's mother commented “This day is about being happy for having Paul and Tina in our lives. I would like to thank everyone who came to support us, and those who worked hard to make the day a success.”

Councillor John Wilmott said “I am honoured to be part of this event and see Paul and Tina's family and friends come together to not only celebrate the lives of their loved ones, but to do something that will benefit a much needed service.”

The event raised a total of £922.34 which will all go to the East Midlands Ambulance Service.
