||
Date: 20th December 2010

More than twenty three thousand pounds has been awarded recently to deserving groups across Ashfield through the Grant Aid scheme.

Ashfield District Councils Grant Aid is aimed at giving much needed assistance to voluntary organisations that work within, and benefit the District of Ashfield.

The Council also has responsibility for administering the Harold Farr Bequest Fund which exists to provide annual grants to persons under the age of 25 years, residing in the District of Ashfield, who require financial assistance in respect of any undertaking which aids or promotes the participation of young people in sporting or cultural activities.

This year, the seven young people to receive a fifty pound grant were; Blake Morris and Matthew Booth from Hucknall, Alexandra Ross and Rhiannon Linacre from Kirkby and Jack Smith, Bethan Whiteman and Jamie Whiteman from Sutton.

Representatives from some of the groups awarded with a grant, came along to the Council Chamber to be presented with a cheque by the Chairman of the Council, Councillor Mick Parker, followed by festive nibbles and an opportunity to chat with other groups from around Ashfield.
