Council Offers Debt Support
||Ashfield District Council has joined forces with the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) to offer debt advice and support at its Urban Road offices in Kirkby. The new service is being offered on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and has been made possible thanks to funding provided by Communities and Local Government (CLG).
The service is totally confidential, with all meetings held in private interview rooms. It is aimed at local people who may be in danger of losing their homes through debt. Appointments need to be booked in advance. Anyone wishing to make an appointment should call 01623 457252.
Commented the Council’s Head of Health and Housing, Paul Shackley:
“This service is a first for the Council, but we are confident there is a need, and that the expert advice and support that we are offering through the CAB advisers, will be very helpful to residents struggling to cope in these difficult times. It is particularly timely that the new service is being launched now, with bills from the Christmas period causing additional problems for some people.”
