Hucknall Noise Nuisance Man Fined

||
Date: 11th February 2009

A Hucknall man who persistently upset his neighbours by playing loud music has been fined a total of £1,462.50 and will not have his seized audio equipment returned.

Jamie Julian of Burberry Avenue, Hucknall, did not attend the sentencing hearing at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Monday 8 February, when the order was made to pay a £350 fine, £1097.50 costs, and £15 victim surcharge. District Judge Devas also ordered that the seized audio equipment should not be returned as he felt the noise nuisance would re-commence if it was.

At an earlier hearing Mr Julian had been found guilty of failing to comply with the requirements of an abatement notice, issued by Ashfield District Council, in respect of loud music at his Burberry Avenue address.

Commented Ashfield District Council’s Head of Health and Housing, Paul Shackley:

“The Council views this type of anti-social behaviour very seriously. Persistent playing of loud music displays a serious disregard for neighbours, and the distress they can suffer through this type of selfish action, and we will always push hard for a conviction when made aware of cases like this.”
