Village Ventures Visit Ashfield

An opportunity to experience the thrill of live professional theatre comes to Ashfield next month with a visit of the Village Ventures Rural and Community Touring Scheme.

Who's been sitting
            in my chair?The scheme, in conjunction with Ashfield District Council Arts Development, is subsidising three lively performances across the District which are certain to appeal to a wide range of residents.

“Who’s Been Sitting in My Chair?” is an innovative production from the Freehand Theatre Company is a heady mix of original puppetry, great design, beautiful music and gentle humour. It is a delightful interpretation of the classic fairytale, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and is particularly suitable for children aged 3 – 7 year and their families.

Phileas P Souper“Phileas P. Souper” is performed by the Loon and Mimi Theatre and is combination of mime, comedy and music, loosely based on the Jules Verne classic ‘Around the World in 80 Days’. It is suitable for all ages, particularly families. The performance takes place on Friday 5th March at 7.30pm and more information is available from St Andrews’ Church Parish Hall, Mansfield Rd, Skegby, Telephone 01623 623348.

“Cling to Me Like Ivy” A rare chance to see the Birmingham Repertory Company perform this humourous and moving tale of a would be bride and her travelling adventure which is suitable for 12 year olds and above. The performance is on Thursday March 11th and tickets can be booked from Ashfield School, Sutton Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, telephone 01623 455000.
