Ashfield Show gets ready to rock
||With less than two weeks remaining until the largest free community show in the East Midlands, preparations are well under way to make this year's Ashfield Show go with a bang.
Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer of X-Factor fame, and the Counterfeit Beatles, a Beatles tribute band, will both be headlining at
the one day event on Saturday 7th August at Sutton Lawn, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Visitors to the show will have a whole host of family entertainment throughout the day and evening on the main arena, performance
stage and throughout the grounds including:
- Summer Nights performance – a tribute to the 50’s and 60’s
- Local musical talent
- Titan the Robot – as seen on this year’s ‘Big Brother’
- The Battling Cumberland Giants
- James Dylan Stunt Motorcycle Show
- Peter Leadbeater – Chainsaw woodcarving
- Rockwood Dog Display Team
- Festival Circus
- Classic cars
- Steam engines
- Wildlife displays
- Chairman’s Charity Balloon Race
- Ashfield District Council Marquee – showcasing Council services
In addition there will also be a mix of trade and charity stalls, a food court, a licensed bar area, the annual horticulture
tent and much more.
The highlight for many is the ever-popular live music stage and Saturday evening concert, rounded off with a spectacular
firework display at 9pm.
Councillor Wilmott, Ashfield District Council said “The Ashfield show is all about providing wholesome family entertainment
to the people who live in the District. This year it is focusing on providing an arena for local talent to shine, with performances
from a range of up and coming artists.”
