Go For Gardening Glory!
||A bumper crop of gardening TV programmes has boosted interest in gardening and allotments over recent years.
Every year at the Ashfield Show, the Horticultural Tent is a huge favourite with visitors who are impressed by the quality of the fruit and vegetables on show, the flower arrangements and the staged displays.
Local people are invited to enter the horticulture show this year which is free of charge for all entries. There are cash prizes and for those entries that impress the judges “over and above” will be awarded a trophy in recognition of their efforts.
Schedules for this year’s show, held on Saturday 7th August in Sutton-in-Ashfield, are now widely available in libraries and community buildings across the District.
If you have never entered before you will be given lots of advice and assistance and it is always nice to see new faces. There is a section especially for younger gardeners to encourage them to become our gardeners of the future and it is great to see how many have already been bitten by the bug.
Melanie Jackson, Horticultural Tent Organiser from Ashfield District Council said “I’m really looking forward to seeing this year’s exhibits every year they get better and better and everyone is so enthusiastic”.
If you would like to enter, but are having difficulty finding a schedule or require more information please contact Melanie Jackson at Ashfield District Council on 01623 457092.
