Kirkby Man's Drink Ban

||
A Drinking Banning Order was successfully obtained against a man from Kirkby-in-Ashfield banning him from all pubs across the whole of Nottinghamshire, the first of its kind in Ashfield.

Curtis Parr appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on 9th June after committing alcohol related violence and disorderly behaviour within Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The order was obtained following arrest for four offences of threatening behaviour, affray and violence whilst under the influence of alcohol including an actual bodily harm (ABH) offence. It was apparent that whilst under the influence, Parr was violent towards members of the public and also to the Police when trying to arrest him.

The court ruled that Parr is now prohibited from entering licensed public houses, clubs and restaurants in the county of Nottinghamshire and will not expire until 26th May 2012, which is 2 weeks short of the maximum 2 years. The order will run alongside an order with probation recently imposed against him at the Crown Court.

With anti-social behaviour including that which is drink related, being high on the agenda for Ashfield District Council and Nottinghamshire Police, this order sets a precedent for future cases. It was an application from Ashfield District Council with assistance from the Police that led to this order being successfully obtained.

The policy is to name and shame these individuals so anyone who has an order taken out against them will find themselves featured prominently in the local press.

Edd deCoverly, Head of Neighbourhood Services "We are working extremely hard to address concerns over anti-social behaviour and taking action against those who cause persistent problems is part of the solution. This is the first Drinks Banning Order that has been issued within Ashfield and as we continue to step up our enforcement action we will not hesitate to use these powers against anyone who causes problems for others within the community."
