Waste Recycling Site To close In Sutton

||
Date: 24th June 2010

Nottinghamshire County Council have announced that the Sutton-in-Ashfield Household Waste Recycling Site (HWRCs) will be permanently closing to the public.

It will close from 8pm on Sunday 1st August 2010 and the Councils waste contractors Veolia will remove all cabins and associated waste infrastructure from the site (waste and recycling bins etc).

The closure of this site has been difficult decision; however, the County Council is facing major budget pressures and even with the closure of the three HWRCs (Stapleford and Gedling as well as Sutton-in-Ashfield). The provision of the remaining HWRCs will still exceed national averages for a county with the population the size of Nottingham.

The Sutton-in-Ashfield HWRC was specifically identified for closure because it is adjacent to a landfill site that is now closed and currently being restored to forestry, so would be out of keeping with the area. Users will be directed to two other HWRCs nearby at Kirkby-in-Ashfield (Lowmoor Industrial Estate) and Mansfield (off Hermitage Lane).
