Ashfield Says No To Anti-Social Behaviour

||
Date: 16th March 2010

Over the next week, every household in Ashfield will receive an information booklet from Ashfield District Council and Nottinghamshire Police, in a bid to help people feel safe and stay protected from anti-social behaviour.

The booklet, “Saying ‘No’ to anti-social behaviour!”, is a guide to the standards and services local people can expect from the Police and the Council if they are a victim or witness of anti-social behaviour, a problem faced by the country as a whole. The booklet can be downloaded here.

It is intended that the booklet will provide reassurance to residents that the Council, Police and other local agencies are united in their determination to tackling anti-social behaviour. It provides clear guidance on who to contact if a problem occurs and what action will be taken and support provided during what can be a very stressful and upsetting time.

Working together to combat anti-social behaviour, the primary aims of Ashfield District Council and Nottinghamshire Police are to; reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour in neighbourhoods and parks, engage with and take action against parents whose children are causing anti-social behaviour, take enforcement against those causing a noise nuisance, reduce the amount of rubbish and litter on the streets and reduce vandalism and criminal damage.

Ashfield District Council’s Head of Neighbourhood Services, Edd de Coverly commented,

“We are delivering this booklet to every household in the district because we want our residents to know that we are getting tough on anti-social behaviour. Ashfield District Council, Ashfield Homes, Nottinghamshire Police and the Fire Service are united in tackling those who cause persistent problems and this booklet tells our communities how we intend to support them if they become a victim or witness of anti-social behaviour. By working together we can create more respect for Ashfield, and make this an area we can all be proud of.”

For further information about the booklet, please contact Ashfield District Council on 01623 450000.
