Local Kids Lend A Hand To Help Wildlife

||
Date: 29th November 2010

A group of children from Forest Glade Primary School Environmental Club will be busy making bird feeders on Friday 3rd December at Sutton Lawn.

The eager group will also be braving the chilly weather to give a helping hand to Ashfield District Council park staff who will be planting trees.

The tree planting is taking place during National Tree Week (29 November – 5 December) and is part of the national tree planting campaign which was launched by the government at the beginning of National Tree Week.

Pupils from the school also helped out at the park last week when hundreds of bulbs were planted. Bluebells have been planted beneath groups of trees where the grass has been allowed to grow longer, helping to create a wildlife habitat and a colourful display in the spring.

This will complement further works taking place over the winter to create wildflower meadows on the park.
