Art Fans Unite In Ashfield
||Ashfield's budding artists and those who just like to draw can get involved in 'The Big Draw', a national campaign to get people together and enthusiastic about art.
The Big Draw season which runs from 1-31 October is now a regular feature in UK cultural and educational calendars. It
includes around 1,300 events which take place in all kinds of venues, from national institutions such as The British Museum
to village halls, from nursery schools to universities, from Windsor Castle to local parks.
The aim of the Big Draw is
to show that drawing can be a positive collaborative activity as well as a private passion.
The Big Draw encourages
wide-scale public participation in creative activities, engaging people of all ages with collections in museums and galleries,
heritage environments and community-based drawing activities.
Ashfield District Council will be holding an event
in Teversal at St Katherine’s Church, Buttery Lane on Saturday 9th October from 10am – 3pm.
Participants will be able
to have a go at drawing and sketching at the beautiful church with professional local artist, Jonathan Annable.
Councillor
John Wilmott, Ashfield District Council said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Ashfield who have a passion
for art to come together and meet fellow artists of all levels whilst taking part in a worthy national campaign.”
The event will be free of charge with a small contribution for refreshments. All are welcome to attend and the venue is wheelchair friendly with nearby parking.
