Council Parks Short-Listed For Prestigious Award
||The Districts Green Flag Award winning parks have secured Ashfield District Council as a finalist for an Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Award.
APSE is a not for profit local government body working with over 300 councils throughout the UK to promote excellence in public services.
Since the awards was launched over eleven years ago, local authorities from across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have demonstrated their ability to innovate within service delivery, actively demonstrating new concepts and examples of best practice, which continuously improve the level of service to local communities.
The awards not only recognise and promote individual achievement, but also provide an invaluable opportunity for information to be shared with other authorities and bodies that recognise the hard work and dedication involved in delivering continuous improvement.
Following the successful retention of the five Green Flags for; Brierley Forest Park, Portland Park, Kingsway Park, Sutton Lawn, and Titchfield Park, Ashfield has been short-listed as a 'top finalist' in the category of 'Best service team: Parks, grounds & horticultural'.
Councillor John Wilmott said: “This is a tremendous achievement for Ashfield and recognises the excellent parks and open spaces provided by Council teams, friends groups and the local communities that use them.”
The local authorities who are winners and finalists receive publicity, both national and local, through the recognition of excellence in service delivery from the wider local government family.
The winners of the awards are due to be announced on 9th September.
