Teversal Conservation Area Consultation
||Ashfield District Council will be undertaking public consultation on the Draft Teversal Conservation Area Appraisal from Monday 7th February until Friday 11th March, 2011.
The council is welcoming comments on the draft document and there will be a public exhibition of the Draft Appraisal in Teversal Manor Room on Tuesday 8th February from 5pm to 8pm and on Saturday 12th February from 10am until 1pm. The document can also be viewed online at www.ashfield-dc.gov.uk/ldf or at the Council Offices, Urban Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and at Sutton-in-Ashfield library; Skegby Library and Huthwaite Library. The overall aim of the Appraisal is to guide the preservation and enhancement of Teversal Conservation Area. It outlines the setting, character, important features and aspects of the Conservation Area and sets out a Management Plan to sustain them. |
In terms of its setting, the landscape surrounding the conservation area plays a significant role in the rural character of Teversal. The Character of Teversal Conservation Area is further enhanced by the retention of hedgerows, stone walls, a combination of stone and brick built properties dating back to the 12 Century and traces of the village’s aristocratic and agricultural past in the form of Teversal Manor and nearby farm buildings.
The appraisal proposes to amend the conservation area boundary to include features currently not in the conservation area as these are deemed important to the maintenance of Teversal as a traditional English village.
Following consideration of the consultation responses, the Appraisal and Management Plan will be finalised and it is planned for adoption by the Council in Summer 2011.
