Another Green Flag Success For Titchfield Park!
||Hucknall's premier green space, Titchfield Park, has managed to secure a prestigious Green Flag for the third year running.
The Green Flag Award is presented to the best green spaces in the country and Titchfield Park is one of five awarded in the Ashfield District this year.
The success follows a programme of investment in the park over recent years, with support from the Friends of Titchfield Park. Work has continued this year with the redevelopment of the skate park, a third phase of footpath resurfacing and more welcoming entrances.
The new skate park has been designed by Freestyle Skate Parks, in collaboration with a local group of users. Ashfield District Council arranged several meetings between the designers and users to make sure the park meets local needs.
The new concrete park will provide a top quality facility for skaters, bikers and bladers and is due to be completed by the end of August.
The facility has been funded by contributions from local housing developers and is part of an overall masterplan of improvements to the park. In recent years this has included the creation of two new pavilions, the restoration of the cenotaph and boathouse, a new play area and new park furniture. Funding has recently been secured from Nottinghamshire County Council's Local Improvement Scheme to improve lighting on the park and increase usage during winter months.
The improved facilities available are attracting more and more visitors to the park and it is a popular venue for a host of community events. The park has even developed an educational bee-themed garden created by volunteers from Hucknall Women's Institute and local primary school children.
