Nuncargate Recreation Ground - Opening Event And Summer Fun Days
||Ashfield District Council has been working with a local group, CASK (Caring about South Kirkby) to improve Nuncargate recreation ground and provide more for children and young people to do.
The works were undertaken last winter and the site now provides a bmx track, new play equipment for older children, new paths and additional tree planting.
The scheme has been funded by Ashfield District Council and grant funding of £50,000 from Community Spaces.
The play area was officially opened by the Council's Chairman, Councillor Mrs May Barsby on Tuesday 5th July at 4pm.
A programme of FREE events are also planned over the summer on the recreation ground, these have been been funded via the Community Spaces fund:
- Tuesday 26th July, 1-4pm –Extreme Sports theme, with BMX-ing, Body Zorbs, Laser Quest and Sumo suits.
- Tuesday 2nd August 1-4pm – Circus theme, with juggling, tightrope walking, Sumo suits etc. This event is supported by Surestart.
- Tuesday 9th August 1-4pm - Environment theme; weaving and other crafts, bird box and bird feeder making, balance circus activities; unicycles and much more.
- Tuesday 16th August 1-4pm - Nuncargate Olympics- a chance to try out different sports with local clubs, football competitions, climbing wall, tug of war, Sumo suits etc.
- Wednesday 31st August 1-4pm – Multicultural theme; drumming, a chance to try d.j-ing, storytelling teepee and lots more to be confirmed.
