||Ashfield District Council has been awarded five stars, the highest score possible, in the Clean Britain Awards.
An unannounced and independent inspection took place last autumn which surveyed a number of areas across the district to give an accurate assessment of the standards of cleanliness maintained. The inspection team commented that standards were high in general and highlighted that Station Street in Kirkby-in-Ashfield had achieved a perfect score of 100% cleanliness despite it being in a very busy shopping area and an important through route for traffic. |
They were also very impressed by Hucknall High Street which had high levels of cleanliness and very few negative issues.
Edd deCoverly, Head of Neighbourhood Services said: "This is a tremendous achievement and I want to congratulate the environmental and community protection teams for their hard work in achieving this excellent result. We will not be resting on our laurels however and will review the detailed feedback report to determine how we can improve our service still further."
