Democracy Quiz – the results are in!

Residents in Ashfield were asked to test their knowledge of all things elections in a recent quiz.
The Local Democracy Quiz ran by Ashfield District Council, received a fantastic number of entries. The lucky winner, Julie from Hucknall, received an original piece of art  kindly donated by Robert Lee who runs workshops called “Can’t paint, Won’t paint”, and the runner up was given an Ashfield District Council goodie bag.

Look out for the 2012 Democracy Quiz during the Annual Canvass next year.

This year’s questions and answers are below:

  2. How many Ashfield district councillors are there? 33
  3. How often are local elections held in Ashfield District Council? 4 years
  4. What is the deadline for being added to the electoral register before an election? 11 working days before an election
  5. You can vote by post at elections: true
  6. Your vote gives you a say about who makes decisions in the District: true
  7. From what age can you register on the electoral register? 17
  8. Not being registered on the electoral register could have a negative impact on your credit rating: true
  9. Paying council tax automatically means that you are registered on the electoral register: false
  10. You need a poll card in order to vote at elections: false
