A local man has been ordered to pay a total of 555.50 pounds in fines and costs for littering a parking ticket in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
A local man has been ordered to pay a total of 555.50 pounds in fines and costs for littering a parking ticket in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
A Parking Enforcement Officer issued Robert Ryan, of Blackwell Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield with a parking ticket on Forest Street
in Sutton-in-Ashfield on 13th December 2010, which he refused to accept and threw on the floor.
After failure to pay a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) of £75 for littering, Ashfield District Council issued prosecution proceedings and Mr Ryan appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on 27th July 2011, where he pleaded not guilty to the offence of littering a parking ticket.
At the subsequent trial on 21st September 2011, he accepted that a parking ticket had been issued to him, that he refused to accept the parking ticket and tried to give it back to the Parking Enforcement Officer but he denied littering the ticket.
The magistrates found him guilty of littering and he was sentenced to a fine of £75, costs of £465.50 and a victim surcharge of £15 totalling £555.50.
